Plans for school provision from June 1st 2020

29 May 2020 (by Craig.Orgill)

Letter from Headteacher regarding plans to extend our school provision from 1st June.

I trust that you and your families are safe and well.

As you are aware we are currently open to key worker children and those who are most vulnerable. These places have been offered based on individual risk assessments and the availability of staff teams.

The updated Government advice for special schools is,

“Special schools and post 16 institutions should work towards welcoming back as many children and young people as can be safely catered for in their setting.”

We are planning to extend our provision from 1st June, dependent upon essential supplies arriving. For those children not returning in Phase 1 we will continue with home school packs and on line learning.

If you choose not to send your child to school you will not be fined or prosecuted.

We have put plans in place for pupils;

  • To stay within their own space and classroom bubble
  • Have their own desk and equipment
  • To exercise daily
  • To follow strict hand washing guidance throughout the day
  • To only leave the classroom for outside exercise and to go to the toilet

We have also arranged for;

  • Anti bacterial wipes, tissues, sanitiser and first aid kits in every classroom
  • Staff and children to sanitise their hands on arrival and departure
  • No assemblies or class gatherings
  • No non-essential visitors to the school whilst children are on site
  • A dedicated room to be available should a child or staff member become ill on site

 Please do not send your child to school unless this has been agreed by telephone with a member of the School leadership team; with the exception of children currently attending.

 Lunch will be provided but will be limited to a choice of sandwiches and jacket potatoes and choice of filling. We will continue to send food vouchers to those families of children who are not returning to school.

The school day for children will be 9:30 – 2:30. Please do not bring your child before 9:30 or collect after 2:30. For parents bringing your child please follow the signs for drop off and collection. A member of staff will be there to receive and return your child to you.

Please do not hesitate to contact school if you have any worries or concerns. A member of the SLT will be available to speak with you.

If you have any safeguarding concerns please telephone Linda James on 01543 686315 during the school day or 07834747981 out of hours or the Family support worker, Dawn Jenks during the school day on 07730766019.

Thank you for your continued support.

Stay safe and well.

 Linda James
