Step in, Speak up26 February 2026 (by Gemma Duff (gemma.duff)) |
Dear Parents/Carers,
As a school we take safeguarding of all our pupils very seriously and our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) education programme allows pupils to understand the importance of staying safe, while preparing them for life now and in the future.
We are delighted to taking part in the Active Bystander Intervention Programme – Step in, Speak up on Friday 6th March 2026 with our Year 5, 6, 7 and 8 pupils. Step in, Speak up explores child-on-child abuse and the societal pressure that prevent pupils from being active bystanders. It will give students the confidence and knowledge to recognise and report potential violence against women and girls. It also explores how to approach friends and peers who are displaying problematic behaviours, as well as friends who may be victims of domestic violence.
The workshop will last for 1 hour and allow pupils to watch the production and then ask relevant questions.
We recognise that our pupils are exposed to a range of experiences, when outside of school and hope that by participating in these workshops they will further their understanding of these important topics.
If you have any questions about the above productions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
K J Archer
