Mobile Phones in School29 June 2026 (by Gemma Duff (gemma.duff)) |
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform you that the government legal requirement for schools to ban mobile devices in schools starts today as part of the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026.
This is not a new policy for Chasetown Community School. We understand that due to transport and distance our pupils often bring devices to school and hand them to staff when entering the school and then they are returned at the end of the school day.
As previously, pupils are not permitted to use mobile phones or other personal devices on school premises during school hours except for medical exemptions.
Should a pupil be in breach of this requirement, their device will be confiscated until the end of the day, when it will be returned to them. If a pupil refuses to hand over their device, parents/carers will be contacted to support in this matter.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation with your child. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely
Linda James
